been thinking a lot about my different oc worlds recently. ive said before ive got four, but technically it's five if you count extinction.

im gonna put all my thoughts under a readmore bc once again this got insanely long jkllkjjkf. i be rambling

most of my attention has definitely been going into challenger deep the past year (and will likely continue), recently i refurbished hollowridge as well and have had a lot of fun with it (even if i havent drawn much to show for it...)

the other two of the set of four i originally posted about are my agony drive and broken horizon settings. Broken horizon is more of a personal headworld where ive set my dragon ocs, but I have not really been successful with it in terms of like. worldbuilding and crafting a story for it, mostly because there are very few characters in it currently and i struggle with it. But it's the world where cercerion and my sona dima (as an oc) exist. i would love to actually do a better job with it sometime but it currently isnt a huge priority because ive been focused on the other two main ones (but again since its just a personal headworld it literally is just some place i like to mentally hang out and fly around in, im not super bothered by it being undeveloped.)

However we have the two troublemaker worlds now

the agony drive setting has been driving me more than a little nuts because of its whole situation with it. i absolutely adore the characters i have in it, but i have no idea what to do with the world itself. it used to be a joint project so i was extremely limited in the way i could develop it bc i depended on the other individual enjoying the ideas and i did my best to keep it afloat almost being the sole contributor to it, so now that its liberated i just didnt know what to do with it. i do like a bunch of the lore bits i came up with but some part of me is like 'idk if i enjoy this as a world' bc it still feels limited in some way? Another issue is that while hollowridge (previously my horror and slapstick gore setting with demons/angels/magic vibes) was dead in the water, i channeled that violence slapstick demon/magic vibe through TAD, but getting a focus back on hollowridge has kinda just. straight up deleted a bunch of TAD's reason to exist? i dont know if that makes sense

HR isnt really that much slapstick violence because death is final, and TAD is more cartoony in that sense bc death ISNT final which is its main reason to exist (unlimited violent major character death for the funnies), but theres a weird overlap that is keeping me from focusing correctly because it makes my brain go 'you are doing the same thing twice'

I would really really love to actually turn it into something fun and unique (separate from my other worlds) but i really havent been sure how to go about it because of that overlap. i genuinely think its just a problem of 'you have to actually develop the setting to have fun in it' and i just havent been able to do that yet bc i cant decide what i want it to BE. TAD has also never really had a lot of story to begin with so it makes things harder bc the story is the vehicle to explore the world with. its pretty frustrating bc midas set and david are some of my fav ocs ive made and i miss them but god dammit if it isnt hard to actually work with the whole thing....

and last but not least... the fifth one. extinction. a lot of you probably know this one from my comic. if youve been here since like... 2014-2015 (which would be insane) you might remember me beginning to develop that story until it eventually became the comic that is currently sitting unfinished and feels like a huge weight on my shoulders just out of sheer shame

the issue with extinction is that it was a lot of characters that i deeply loved (and still i still deeply love!!) all with fun plotlines, backstories, and a lot of fun tidbits to em that i ended up bending and breaking dozens of times just for the purpose of fitting them into a relatively short story that i could draw out and finish. and more importantly into something i hoped would be handleable instead of spiralling out of control like it had happened before

but what i didnt realize is that by doing so, i "locked" their lore in place into these very small boxes that would fit into a story, and thus i would remove what i had loved about those characters and their interactions that i had come up with years and years ago and a lot of my very very cool ideas for them simply went out the window in favor of .... well i dont. know. but off it went

i live in complete shame for not being able to finish the comic. it genuinely is a huge and extremely heavy weight on my shoulders and this whole thing has prevented me from even thinking of said ocs for years now even though they are some of my oldest and most beloved. saying all of this is not something i take lightly in the least as well

so recently I have been thinking about bringing them back as well... maybe (to the extent that i can... i have a lot of ocs and you guys know i have a lot of bias when drawing faves. so i cant guarantee content but at least i would be able to think about them again).

essentially the same way that i rewrote and got back my old concepts for hollowridge that slapped hard i want to get back my original ideas for extinction that i thought were really cool and just wasnt able to fit into a comic narrative

obviously this would come with a lot of retconning and i know a lot of people will probably not like it if i do it and i think thats something i have to face and learn to live with

but yeah anyways. TLDR is i really want to actually do something proper for TAD but have been having a lot of trouble with it unfortunately, but im working on it. and ive also been feeling rly nostalgic about extinction so you might see the characters again, albeit different in terms of story from what you probably know

Ayo got high, helped throw a birthday party, and left to play bingo with friends. Bingo was boring as hell and I was like "dam wish i was home chillin, or at the quiet birthday party."

Then after bingo I found out that the 'quiet birthday party ' was not quite. And got cops called. I was still high. I would have kissed bingo on the mouth.

Night ended with a hour and a half rant (shorter then my usual ones, but oddly more structured for being high). And now I will go eepy. Idk why I'm posting this. Honestly I think more for myself.

Its a rant. That it baby. Only art ive done is set up some animated icon assets for sale (not done to sell yet lol) and draw a bunch of classwork doodle's of my sona lolololol. Art might be lacking, but I'm finally touching grass, pun intended.

3. weapon of choice? any particular reason they chose their weapon?

(this is a perfect question as ive been playing more splatoon 3 recently so i actually have a feel for the weapons i want my characters to use hihi + ill just list all of the ones i currently have chosen weapons for!)

turns out, this post grew way longer than i thought it would so uh woe read more be upon you

Arsenic:

Definitely Splatana Wiper as main and (Luna) Blaster as secondary, he has a quick and agressive playstyle so these are the weapons he usually goes for (also his aim is absolute dog with chargers and splatlings are a little bulky and slow for him, he can use shooters when needed but he doesnt find them interesting to play)

Link:

Probably sticks with a vanilla Splat Charger, likes to play support/backline but still pressures the opposite team quite a bit whilst staying out of fire himself. Other than his proficiency with his main weapon he probably has some practice in with other weapon classes as well. (This is because he works for Ammo Knights hihi)

I'd imagine him being kind of well known for his absolutely bonkers k/d ratio because of his high awareness playstyle but he would definitely have the dumbest deaths in practice :')

Zel:

Zel is a HUGE fan of heavy weaponry like this woman is absolutely insane about them and practices every single one she can get her hands on but her main weapon of choice in battle would probably be a Dynamo Roller or a Nautilus when she's feeling extra silly... as for why its mainly because it helps her stay physically strong and uhhh lifting super heavy weapon in practice means she doesnt have to go to the gym often

A4:

Definitely shooter class weapons, probably sticks to something like an N-Zap, Splash-o-Matic, Splattershot and Splattershot Pro but is quite handy with a Squiffer when needed. I imagine at some point A4 and Link would switch roles just before a match to confuse the opponent (very silly behaviour)

BONUS!!!!!!!! These are characters which i havent really thought of in a competitive sense or havent developed yet

itll be very messy going forward mainly because i want to yap so hard about these little inkfish thumbs up

Fern:

Fern doesn't really play that much but would probably prefer Dualies, not sure which but she'd probably switch it up sometimes

Violet:

Brella 100% (i dont know how to explain it i just feel it in my bones) her Brella would probably be decorated to the max literally her pride and joy (also known as her favourite fashion accessory as she's too busy with her job to actually use it in battle :( boowomp)

Amber: (<- Arsenic's younger sister!!!)

Brella/Bucket, i haven't really thought of her in battle but she'd probably just mess around a ton lol

Ise Rotag:

Ise was originally the character that was Link's like future partner??? their story was really nice but he got replaced by Arsenic after i abandoned the two for a few months and decided to revive Link again (you will see Ise more btw i fucking love his design and cuntyness) FOR THE WEAPON! Probably an Inkbrush honestly this guy loves to be annoying and sneak up on backliners when they least expect it, plays very aggressively as well... also his name has a really funny origin and if youre able to guess it ill uhh idk good job

I have 3 other characters but they all dont have names so uhm yeah ill just go quickly through these

oc based on coroika, inkling, probably something backline, dont imagine them in battle often

waiter, octoling, grim blaster (or so me from 2 years ago wrote down)

shut-in, inkling, new squiffer (again according to notes left to their design drawings)

2&3 were together and 1 was a sona for shits and giggles but uh theyll come back someday!! i promise!!! like their designs and relationship dynamics too much!!! they might even be Ise's new teammates!!!

im about to ramble and expose some weakpoints on the internet so heres a cut !!! im gonna talk about the three that are in the forefront of my mind at the moment !! maybe this will change if you ask me in a months time,,, maybe not !!! mwah thank you for sending me asks sweetie

lots of history with this girl; soo i found out about her during my first mugen phase ? so like 11-13ish,, there was a genre of character that was modeled to play like smash bros characters, and in looking those up, i found one of this weird woman... hong meiling was her name ? she was related to this weird frog girl whose hat was evil and maybe the mcdonalds song girl ? whatever the case i needed to download her. and i couldnt because the download was down. this sent me uo the wall for several years and implanted her name into my brain,, up until i got into touhou proper thanks to you actually !!

so now im learning about the lore and the characters, and turns out theres more to this meiling than being elusive and pretty !!! so this gloomy, scary place behind one of the touhou worlds most significant battles is guarded by this friendly, easygoing redhead ? and shes fiercely loyal and protective of the mansion as well as gensoukyou, despite being employed by people who almost ate the world right up ? thats so wonderful !! shes so cool !!! and she takes care of flowers, and canonically doesnt like dodging bullets and tries catching them instead, and no one has any idea of what she is...!!!! theres so much to her !!! but most of all, the absolute tragedy of some of her mansionmates getting boatloads of development and lore, while shes,, basically in the same place she started in ? even flan did ! but meiling still gets depicted as just lazying about, despite that trait of hers being in favour of working in the scarlet devil mansion, which people fear and dont visit ? or rather used to... so she should have evolved along with it,, so that sadness also makes me even more attached to her in a way !!

i know shes not the most mistreated character in touhou or anything, far from it since shes a th6 girl and those get Everything and everyone sick of them but... idk !! id love to see more of her shine someday ouo

like shes drenched, positively oozing with lore and content, and its all so utterly relevant and unique that i cant possibly talk about any of it because i cant be bothered to spoiler tag this,, but like,, reading between the lines of the fiction and uncovering lil things about her and what shes like was the most fun ive had during my dngnrnpa phase, to the point that,, here she is still !! at the tippy top !! and because of things youre intimately familiar with russell, you probably know shes probably gonna stay !! im very sentimental like that

and it wasnt even just lore either, her design kind of instantly drew me to her back when i was part of the original animes speculation circle and,, wow suddenly my sonas attire seems a little um,, familiar doesnt it : ...i promise i had other inspiations for ir too óuo;

finally this girl !! much like is the theme here, some lore to my meeting this one !!! this one predates even meiling, since i think i was 9 or 10,, see there was a broadcast channel here called animax, and its responsible for a lot of my taste even nowadays,, from the name you can guess it broadcast all sorts of dubbed anime all day long, most of which i absolutely should not have been watching at that age, like hellsing and gantz oops... well there was this other one which until like 4 years ago i only had the faintest recollection of,, i think there were demons in it or something,, mostly i remember being infatuated by the blonde girl

well 2018 comes around and the memory of this lady shoots straight into my brain in the middle of a call with you russell, which you might remember ! i describe to you what it looks like and tell you that i think a guy kills her and she has him help kill bad guys or else hell kill him right back ? and you, through intense googling, eventually are able to tell me it was called lunar legend tsukihime. woag ! lore unlocked

i wiki crawl for a while out of curiosity and find out that she has a fighting game that kinda rules, and that everyone hates the anime and you should read the visual novel instead and,, hey were making a visual novel at some point huh russell ? maybe i should study up on this tsukihime thing,, apparently its pretty influential,, and

obviously arcueid is ridiculously charming and fun, and every second with her is a mildly exciting, mildly creepy (fun way) delight, and its hard not to absolutely love her for that alone !! but also like,, much like the love for meiling started like a new phase in my life, arcueid did the same thing, in a very wonderful way ? a phase where were both really into this thing and talking about it so often and making so many new ideas about it together,, were playing higurashi currently and it feels like an extension of this, of her, and like,, its so special

Also since he has an accent that you can’t easily understand, texting might be a good communication method. I see you’re a man of culture as well. Culture is being absolutely crap at seeing any notifications and having to start out every message with “fuck I didn’t see this” so that the other person is aware that you’re just a dumbass and not, in fact, an asshole. So let me start this off with @timaeushorsified, which is, by the way, the most cursed fucking username I’ve ever seen. 

I’m going back and forth on watching it all over again, or just looking through clips on YouTube. The clips are easier for my ADHD to digest, mostly because something that’s 5 minutes long but cuts off just as it gets good is fucking infuriating as hell and kicks into the gear the part of my brain that Must Know All Things, but the show isn’t exactly hard to watch to begin with. That said, it’s a 9 season show with 26 episodes each, except for one season that’s 13 episodes long, with an additional 5/6 movies that are fairly integral to the plot. That’s a lot of shit. I’m going to watch all of it, I’ve decided this second. I will probably have regrets later. 

If you’re torn between Earth and Sky, then the solution is clear; go for Sky, but pretend to be Earth. Your ponysona wears something to hide their wings so they can masquerade as an Earth pony, spends the majority of their time on ground, and perhaps rarely uses their wings - but at the same time, is an excellent flyer when required. That, or has some form of magic on them. Now that’d be cool as shit. 

On my end, I’m torn as fuck. I saw clips on the Changelings, and fuck I love those buggy bastards. At the same time, unicorns are pretty fucking sweet. I also want my sona to have a cutiemark, so, it’s almost definitely going to be a unicorn. Unsure on the name so far, but I’m thinking something with the word Mustard in it, predominantly because I’m currently obsessed with the colour. Maybe something with Mint. 

In response to your cursed side thought, I offer to you: I’ve thought about this too much already and have decided that Land-based pony names is probably the best way to handle it. For instance, Wind Shade (Shady Breeze), Light Rain (Sparkling Drizzle), Frost Frog (Snow Croak), Heat Clockwork (Pyrotech). John would naturally be a pegasus, Dave is likely an Earth pony, Rose absolutely has to be a unicorn, as does Jade, though she is high in the rankings to become an alicorn. Unless, of course, we use the other species as well. In which case, Changeling Dave. Very possibly Hippogryph Rose, since she has such a water-based theme.

so, after having finished the sweatbox documentary and processing everything i’ve just witnessed, i’ve come to learn something and yearn something (putting a keep reading here because this is a long post)

the creative process is actually a lot of fun!!!

for the longest while, i considered classes like math & social studies to be my favorite classes when i was in high school. but now that i’m in college, i can say without a doubt that my favorite class would have to be creative writing

i think creative writing is my favorite class to take because my senior year of high school was the one where i was the most creative. i was constantly drawing, constantly making new characters, new lore, new stories, i was so, so creative then. so many things to get inspired by, and i believe that was the time when i started work on my webcomic superlove.

and now i yearn back to those days. those were like, my most exciting days i can confidently say. i was going into my own person & identity, i was creatively fulfilled because i didnt have as many classes then (besides like creative classes), thus i had more time to work on fleshing out my characters, my stories, and even working on the first draft for the first issue. from january 2019-may 2019, i had been working on the first issue of superlove, and i couldnt have been anymore happier and fulfilled then.

of course, i lose my lil notebook which had all of my work in it, and then i started to lose the creative energy to get back into superlove. dont get me wrong, i still LOVE LOVE LOVE superlove, and hey!!! i even found it, so i could start working on it again. but also, im now too anxious to getting back into superlove because i havent worked on this webcomic, on these stories, with these characters that i loved so much in such a long time. and i thought i could get back into the groove of it with superlove mini, which were like, short comedic comics i made for my colleges newspaper. but, i kinda stopped when the pandemic hit, because i just lost all my creative juices then. and of course, im currently not part of my colleges newspaper anymore, because im pretty sure its not gonna b a thing for this semester?? or even for the next semester.

though i was happy to introduce everyone to chloe & lauren, and from what i’ve been told people do like them both, which i’m glad!!! because that’s what superlove is gonna be entirely focused on, their relationship.

but now its been so long since, i havent really had the energy to create anything new, or even the inspiration or willpower to do anything new. this year had been terrible with emotionally taxing breakups, drama that happens here and there, and of course, with the energy that 2020 radiated as well. im very lucky whenever i do pick up my pen and tablet & start & finish a new drawing on my laptop. i still have pieces on here that i’ve only started & haven’t finished yet. hell, ive had ideas that i want to put to paper, but i’ve never got the motivation to yet.

which is why i got happy & excited to work on my friends fnaf au!!! it was alot of fun coming up with great ideas, bouncing off of each others ideas, piggybacking off of our own ideas, bringing stronger ideas & characterizations to the table, its just been so much fun!!! but, because of streaming (which, ive been able to get creative with, but at a lesser extent) and school (and the anxiety thats been permeating from school), i haven’t really been able to draw anything. i think the last thing i’ve drawn outside of my sonas & art for streams would have to be like, my nightmarensona & my friends fnaf au protag

idk, ig i just miss the creative process alot and wish i could work on a creative project im interested in and confident in and wont lose energy for is all
